Google AI Mode in Turkey: How Should You Read Your Website Visitors Now?

September 29, 20266 min read

AI Mode and AI Overviews have been rolling out in Turkey since February 2026. Here is what to check in Search Console and GA4, and how to prepare your content for summary boxes.

Google began rolling out AI Mode and AI Overviews in Turkey gradually from 18 February 2026. AI Overviews show a short summary with source links at the top of the results. AI Mode turns search into a conversation: you ask, read the answer, then add a follow-up question. So how does this change the people arriving at your site, and how should you read your reports?

What changes and what does not

Some simple questions are now answered right in the summary box, so clicks on those queries may drop. On the other hand, Google says clicks from AI features can be higher quality: the person already knows the basics and wants more detail. So looking at click counts alone is a reason for neither panic nor relief. So treat 'clicks dropped' not as a conclusion on its own but as a signal to start investigating.

One thing has not changed. According to Google's guidance for site owners, appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode needs no special markup or extra file. Your page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet in regular results. A solid SEO foundation is still the main road.

What to check in Search Console

Clicks and impressions from AI features are already part of the regular Performance report (Web search type). In summer 2026 Google also added a separate 'Generative AI performance' report that isolates impressions in AI features. According to Google's help page it shows impressions, not clicks, broken down by page, country, date and device. Your site needs enough impressions to appear in it.

Picture a dental clinic: clicks on its 'what is teeth whitening' page may have dropped, while clicks on the price and booking pages and phone calls stay the same. What was lost is the reader looking for information who would not have booked anyway. Splitting pages into two groups by purpose and reading them separately is far more useful than one total number.

  • In the Performance report, compare the last 3 months with the 3 before; read clicks and impressions together. Flat impressions with falling clicks may mean the answer is being consumed in the summary box.
  • Split queries into 'brand' and 'non-brand'. If searches for your business name grow, people may be discovering you in the summary and then searching for you by name.
  • Look page by page: where did clicks fall? Short factual questions such as 'what is' or 'how many days' tend to be affected; price, booking and comparison pages less so.
  • If the new AI performance report is available to you, note the pages with the highest impressions. Those are the pages being cited in summaries.

Pay separate attention to brand searches: someone who sees your name in an AI summary and then comes straight to search for you arrives through a business-name query. In Search Console this shows up as a brand query. If brand searches grow and conversions hold, your visibility may be better than you think. If both brand and generic searches fall, the cause is not only AI summaries; it may be competition, seasonality or a problem on the site itself. Do not make content or ad budget decisions before making that distinction.

Measure visitor quality in GA4

Even if clicks fall, what matters is whether the people who do arrive call you, fill in the form or buy. In GA4, filter to the Organic Search source and follow conversion rate, engaged time and your key events (calls, forms, WhatsApp clicks, purchases). If traffic drops while conversions hold or rise, what you lost was mostly visitors who would not have converted anyway.

You may not be able to isolate AI Mode clicks precisely in GA4, and Google reports this traffic inside regular Web search. Do not chase an exact 'share from AI'; read the trend.

A common measurement mistake is reading too much into short swings. A one-week dip can come from holidays, vacations or even the weather. So instead of a few days of data, compare at least monthly and against the same period last year.

Write content that summary boxes can quote

Finally, turn this into a monthly habit. Open the same three reports with the same date range once a month and take notes: clicks and impressions, brand searches, conversions. After three months the trend shows itself and it is easier to decide which page to prioritise.

  • Start the page with the question and give a clear 2-3 sentence answer right away; put the detail below it.
  • Collect common questions in a visible FAQ section with short answers.
  • Write price ranges, opening hours, address and duration as plain text or a table, not embedded in an image.
  • If you use structured data (schema), make it match what is visible on the page exactly.
  • Add your own experience: real photos, steps, common mistakes. Generic text anyone could write is the least likely to be cited.
